Dr. Derek Lacey
Dr Derek Lacey is the Founder and CEO of Bluestone Yeast Co, Australia’s first and only liquid yeast manufacturer. Derek is a scientist wIth 15+ years experience in cell biology & a keen interest in beer brewcraft.
Derek completed his BSc(hon) and PhD at Monash Uni, before completing a post-doc at Kings College London, 7 years at Melbourne Uni and 3 years at Walter and Eliza Hall institute.
Derek is passionate about bringing the precision and control of science to the world of craft beer, by providing a wide selection of high quality liquid yeast strains - he’s driven to help Aussie craft brewers improve their beer flavours.
An enthusiastic home brewer and craft beer drinker himself, Derek is a fan of trying new and exciting brews, if it’s different - he’ll definitely try it!
